I have been trying to install an update from Java for my laptop, and have found that when the Windows Installer is needed, well, it only gives errors. The Java Update would be the current version of 7 (update 25) and the error I recieve is the following: 'Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.'
I am running Vista, Service Pack 2, 32-bit system. I have tried to install Windows Installer 4.5, but that is not for Service Pack 2 of Vista. I have also looked into other questions on the 'answers.microsoft.com' and had found a few problems that many were having with this aswell. So I had looked into the registry fix recommendations and found that if you have the file called ' Msiexec.exe' on your system then you should have the MSIServer registry, I do have the application of Msiexec, but do not, however, have the MSIServer registry to edit from the directory of: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Services MSIServer So I'm quite stuck on this issue. The installer is not missing, it just doesn't want to run when needed (considering that MSI is a manually requested application to run when installing, un-installing and such with programs and softwares.) Please help me with this.
All help would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance. Hi, This is the MS information: 'Error 'The Windows Installer Service Could Not Be Accessed' when installing or updating programs on Windows 7 or Windows Vista' Cheers. Sorry but none of those fixed my problem, the error is still happening. Just for a side note, when I had gone into the command prompt and typed: net start MSIServer It told me: This service name is invalid.
More help is avaliable by typing NET HELPMSG 2185. So I then did so and it told me: This service name is invalid. Please help me with this, error, it's quite annoying. I also even tried to uninstall the current Java, but the error comes up because I cannot uninstall a program without Windows Installer (MSI.) It's all about the money.

I cannot uninstall, or install ANY software/program/application, because MSI is not working properly and I need to know how to fix this, which is where the error is actually coming from. This is sudden, yes. The computer is being used by me, but is owned by my mother. The computer is up-to-date.
Yes, other then some small updates that Windows wishes to install such as some.NET framework updates.
